FireTrace is a wildfire forensic analysis prototype that renders a photorealistic 3D terrain map of an actual incident — the Ridgeview fire in the San Gabriel Mountains. You get a scrubable timeline from ignition to containment, animated fire-spread arrows overlaid on satellite burn-scar imagery, ignition probability heat maps, drone and resource tracking, and live weather/fire-behavior readouts at cursor. The right panel logs key events hour by hour. Built with Claude Opus 5.5, it's the kind of tool that looks like it took a full GIS team months.

  • 3D terrain with layered overlays: burn scar (dNBR), modeled fire spread, ignition probability, and suppression drop lines
  • Scrubable timeline from Aug 14–18 with fire area, rate-of-spread, and elevation profile charts updating in real time
  • Per-cursor weather readout (wind, temp, RH, fuel moisture, ERC, flame length) tied to exact terrain coordinates

“Six projects from the last few weeks that caught our attention: A wildfire analysis prototype that maps the fire’s spread over time and tracks hot spots, made with Opus 5.5.”
