Paper Trebuchet — Sketch-to-Physics Sim
Ben Poole
@poolio · 23.3K followersA pencil sketch of a trebuchet and a stack of blocks, drawn on paper, becomes a fully interactive physics simulation. Claude Opus 5.5 read the sketch and built a working sim where the trebuchet arm swings, launches a projectile along a dashed arc, and smashes the tower. The UI sits in the corner like a museum placard — "Sketch to Physics, Scale 1:1" — with options to play a guided tour or build your own. Craft and concept are both sharp.
- Hand-drawn pencil sketch is interpreted and converted into a live physics simulation at 1:1 scale
- Trebuchet launches a projectile along the exact arc sketched on paper, collapsing the block pyramid
- Polished UI with guided tour and a "Build it yourself" mode invites direct interaction
